Sampling is not a free swatch ritual. It is how overseas buyers reduce the chance that the first commercial lot fails hand, shade, or width.
- New construction or new shade - sample first, then metres.
- Reorder of a written lock - reference the dated approval; still confirm yarn/loom availability.
- Multi-colour jacquard - sample colourways, not only one hero face.
- Market light - approve where you sell (US, EU, SEA, Middle East), not only under mill light.

Do I always need a sample before ordering metres from India?
Situation: A buyer in the United States or Europe wants cartons quickly because a launch date is near.
Risk: Skipping sample lock on a new construction or new shade usually creates rework on hand, width, or colour after goods land.
What we do at KashiFab: For new constructions or shades, we sample first and get a written lock before commercial metre talk. For a reorder against a previously dated approval, we can discuss quantities against that lock - subject to yarn and loom availability.

What should be on a written fabric specs lock?
Situation: Teams approve a swatch verbally on a call and later argue about what was agreed.
Risk: Without shade method, GSM/hand, usable width, and date, every lot becomes memory vs memory.

How should US and European buyers approve colour on samples?
Situation: Mill light in India differs from a US showroom or EU boutique.
Risk: Approving only under mill light causes shade drift after import - especially on twill scarves and apparel satins.
