Matka silk is a thick, handwoven silk fabric crafted from the waste mulberry silk (pierced cocoons) without removing the natural gum (sericin). Originating prominently from Bhagalpur, Bihar-known as the “Silk City”-it features a distinctive rough, slubbed texture and a matte finish similar to linen, while retaining the soft drape and breathability of silk. It is highly durable, lightweight, and widely used for premium suits, waistcoats, sarees, and tailored garments.
