Who this bulk desk is for

If you are shopping one metre for a gift, this page is the wrong desk. It is built for repeatable commercial metres.

Apparel brands and private label

Dresses, jackets, shirts, and occasion lines that need the same shade and hand across a season drop - not one-off cuts.

Scarf and accessory houses

Silk twill, lightweight drape, and foulard programmes where colour lots and usable width must stay stable from sample to reorder.

Garment manufacturers and cutters

Bulk rolls planned against approved width, GSM, and motif scale so cutting markers do not drift mid-lot.

Sourcing offices for US, UK, EU

Export packing, carton labels tied to PO, and documentation confirmed on the quote for the destination you name.

Select designs for your bulk brief

Swipe these sample directions horizontally. Name one in your enquiry, or send your own tech pack / artwork. These are starting points for custom bulk - not a finished retail catalogue.

Specs bulk buyers usually lock

A bulk silk quote is only useful when the technical brief is clear. Use this as your checklist when you write the RFQ.

Fibre and construction

  • Silk type / weave (twill, satin, brocade, crepe, dupion, slub)
  • Yarn story if you already know it (mulberry, textured, metallic thread)
  • Motif or design reference for jacquards

Weight and hand

  • Target GSM or momme band for the end product
  • Hand feel notes (firm, soft drape, crisp, matte)
  • Opacity needs for scarves or linings

Width and cutting

  • Finished / usable width your marker needs
  • Selvedge and motif placement if pattern matches
  • Expected shrinkage band after your finishing route

Colour and lots

  • Pantone / lab dip / physical swatch reference
  • Number of colourways in the first PO
  • Whether next-season reorder must match the same lock

What you can customize on a bulk silk programme

Customization here means production parameters locked for metres - not retail alterations.

  • Colour - solid dyeing or multi-colour jacquard stories matched to your reference after lab sample.
  • Weight (GSM / momme band) - tuned for scarf, dress, jacket, or lining use so bulk hand matches the approved sample.
  • Usable width - confirmed against how your cutter lays markers.
  • Design / motif scale - match, adapt, or develop from your artwork for jacquard faces.
  • Finish - softener, firmer body, or cleaner face depending on end product (stated on sample).
  • Multi-colourway runs - each colourway sampled and approved before that colour enters bulk.
  • Reorder continuity - same locked construction and shade notes held for later POs when yarn and loom allow.

How a bulk silk order runs

  1. RFQ in You send silk type, design direction, metres, colour count, destination, and delivery window.
  2. Brief review We confirm whether the construction needs a new loom trial and what sampling path fits the brief.
  3. Lab sample You receive a development sample to check shade, GSM, width, and hand in your market light.
  4. Written lock Bulk does not start until colour, silk type, width, and hand are approved in writing.
  5. Bulk weave + QC Metres are produced against the approved sample. QC checks shade, construction, and obvious defects before packing.
  6. Export pack and ship Cartons labelled for your warehouse; Incoterms and docs confirmed on the quote for US, UK, or EU destinations.

Bulk silk FAQ

Commercial answers for buyers who already know they need metres. Jump a question, then send the RFQ.

What is the MOQ for bulk silk?

MOQ depends on silk type, loom booking, and how many colours you lock. We quote a real minimum after the brief. We do not publish a fake one-size number on this page. Tell us target metres and colour count; we reply with what the loom run needs.

Ask this in your quote

Do we have to take bulk before seeing a sample?

No. Lab sampling comes first on custom programmes. Bulk metres start only after you approve shade, GSM, width, and hand in writing. The approved sample becomes the production standard for the lot.

Ask this in your quote

What should we send for a bulk RFQ?

Silk type, design reference or picker direction, target metres, colour count, destination, delivery window, and end product. GSM / width targets and Pantone or swatch references speed the quote. Tech packs help for jacquards.

See full RFQ checklist

How long from brief to bulk shipment?

Typical path: brief review in a few working days, lab sample often 2-4 weeks after brief lock, your written approval, then bulk often 4-8+ weeks after approval. Exact windows are on the quote. Rush and multi-colour programmes move these.

Open lead-time table

Can you hold colour for reorder next season?

Yes, when you reorder the same locked construction and shade standard. We keep programme notes from the approved lab sample so the next lot can match the first, subject to yarn and loom availability at reorder time.

Ask this in your quote

Can one design run in multiple colourways?

Yes. Each colourway is sampled and approved before that colour enters bulk. Multi-colour programmes affect timeline and MOQ. We flag that up front on the quote.

Ask this in your quote

Can we specify usable width and GSM?

Yes. Width and weight targets belong in the RFQ. We confirm what is loom-feasible, lock them on the lab sample, then run bulk to that standard.

See specs checklist

Do you ship bulk silk to the US, UK, and EU?

Yes. Export packing and documentation are part of manufacturer programmes. Incoterms, freight path, and lead time are confirmed on your quote for the destination you name.

Ask this in your quote

How is bulk packed for our warehouse?

Cartons carry fibre, colour, metres, and your PO reference on the outside label so lots can be sorted without opening every pack. Inner roll or fold method is confirmed with the programme.

See QC and packing

What if we change the design after sampling?

Changes after written approval can move cost and timeline. We treat the approved sample as the production standard. If you need a redesign, we open a new sample step before bulk metres start.

Ask this in your quote

Can we book third-party inspection?

Yes, when your PO requires it. Tell us in the RFQ so inspection booking sits inside the production and ship timeline instead of as a late surprise.
