Silk printing and pattern faces
For artwork-led collections we develop printed silk faces (where the brief calls for print) and woven motif / jacquard faces from Varanasi looms. Digital print supports fine artwork, colour gradients, and repeat accuracy for fashion scarves and decorative textiles. Woven jacquard locks motif scale into the cloth for boutique and occasion programmes.

Solid dyeing
Piece-dyed and yarn-led solid programmes deliver clean, uniform colour for minimalist apparel, sleepwear, bedding accents, and linings. Shade is matched to Pantone or a physical swatch, then locked as a colour lot for reorder.

Weave selection
Weave controls texture, shine, and drape. Choose the construction that fits the end product, then customize colour and weight on top. Common trade options we develop:

FAQ - silk customization options
Do you only weave, or can you also print silk?
We develop woven silk constructions from Varanasi (twill, satin, brocade, crepe, dupion, and related faces) as the core path. Printed silk programmes are available when the brief calls for print - tell us artwork, repeat, and end product so we route the right sampling path. Jacquard woven motifs are the house strength when you need pattern built into the cloth.
How do solid dye programmes differ from multi-colour jacquard?
Solid dyeing locks one clean shade lot across the cloth - ideal for minimal apparel and linings. Multi-colour jacquard needs each colourway sampled and approved before that colour enters bulk. Say which path you need in the RFQ so MOQ and timeline stay honest.
Should I specify momme or GSM?
Either works. International scarf and sleepwear briefs often use momme; apparel factories often use GSM. Send the number you already use, plus the end product - we translate that into a loom-feasible band and lock it on sample.
Can weave, colour, and weight be customized together?
Yes. That is a normal silk development brief. Multi-lever programmes need a clear development sample so shade, construction, and hand are approved together before bulk.

Strike-off and lab dips
Printed programmes move through strike-offs for artwork and repeat checks. Dyed programmes move through lab dips for shade. Woven jacquard and construction changes move through a development sample that locks motif scale, shade, and hand before any bulk face is woven.

FAQ - development and sampling
What is a strike-off vs a lab dip vs a development sample?
A strike-off checks printed artwork, colour, and repeat on fabric before bulk print. A lab dip checks dyed shade against your Pantone or swatch. A development sample locks woven construction, motif scale, GSM / momme, width, and hand for loom programmes. Your brief decides which path we open - many silk programmes use lab dips plus a development sample.
What must be confirmed in specification review?
Silk type or weave, colour standard, momme / GSM target, usable width, finish / hand notes, artwork if patterned, end product, metres, colour count, and destination. Missing any of these usually adds a round before sampling can start cleanly.
When does bulk fabric production start?
Only after written approval of the strike-off, lab dip, and / or development sample that applies to your programme. Verbal “looks fine” is not a production lock. See also Fabric Development Process for the full stage desk.
Can sampling and colour matching run in parallel for several colourways?
Often yes when yarn and loom allow. Each colourway still needs its own approval before that colour enters bulk. Multi-colour programmes affect MOQ and lead time - we state that on the quote.
How long does development and sampling take?
Many custom silk programmes land lab samples or dips in roughly 2-4 weeks after brief lock, then bulk often 4-8+ weeks after approval. Print strike-offs, complex jacquards, and multi-colour stories can move those windows. Exact dates are on your quote.

Questions on custom silk by category
Are you a silk manufacturer or only a developer / trader?
Both development and manufacturing run in the same programme. We sample, you approve, then we manufacture bulk to that standard with QC and export packing - we do not pass the brief to an unrelated trader after sampling.
What do the Indian names mean?
Trade English is the primary label (e.g. structured silk satin). The Indian mill name (e.g. Katan) sits under each sample so sourcing teams can match briefs from India and from your design office.
Can you develop any of these silk types to our Pantone?
Yes. Colour matching is part of every type. We lab-dip, then lock the lot in writing before bulk.
Do we pay for bulk before sampling?
No. Lab sampling comes first. Bulk is quoted after you approve the silk sample.
What is MOQ for custom silk?
MOQ depends on silk type, colours, and loom booking. We quote after the brief - we do not publish a generic MOQ here.
