Fabric customization

Business enquiry
Two customization paths
Same levers. Different fibre behaviour. Tell us which path you are on when you enquire.
General fabric customization
Cotton, linen, blends, and other woven programmes where colour lots, GSM, usable width, and finish must stay stable for apparel or home lines.
- Solid colour and yarn-dyed stories
- GSM and hand for cut-and-sew
- Width locked to your marker
- Finish tuned to end use
Silk fabric customization
Mulberry and Banarasi silk constructions where shade, motif scale, metal tone, and hand are locked on a lab sample before metres.
- Silk twill, satin, brocade, crepe, dupion, slub
- Motif and colourway development
- GSM / momme band for scarf or apparel
- Sample lock before bulk silk
Capability map
Jump to a lever. Each section shows what we customize, what we lock on sample, and a visual demo.

Lever 01
Custom colour
Match a Pantone, lab dip, or physical swatch. Run one solid colour lot or multiple colourways of the same construction.
- General fabric: solid dye and yarn-dyed stories for cotton, linen, and blends
- Silk fabric: shade lock for twill, satin, crepe; multi-colour jacquard colourways sampled one by one
- What we lock: approved shade standard before metres start
- Send us: Pantone / swatch photo / physical reference

Lever 02
Custom weight / GSM
Set the body of the cloth for the end product - scarf drape, dress mid-weight, or jacket structure - then lock it on sample.
- General fabric: GSM bands for apparel and soft home programmes
- Silk fabric: GSM or momme band by silk type (twill, satin, crepe, brocade)
- What we lock: target weight band and hand feel on the lab sample
- Send us: end product + preferred GSM / momme range if known

Lever 03
Custom width
Usable width is a cutting decision. We confirm what the loom can deliver and lock it before bulk so markers do not drift.
- General fabric: width planned against your marker and garment plan
- Silk fabric: finished / usable width for scarf, apparel, or lining programmes
- What we lock: usable width on the approved sample
- Send us: required usable width and end use

Lever 04
Custom design / motif
Match, adapt, or develop a design direction. Jacquard motif scale and placement are sampled before any bulk face is woven.
- General fabric: pattern direction for yarn-dyed or woven programmes where applicable
- Silk fabric: foulard, geometric, floral, metallic motif, and solid faces
- What we lock: motif scale, repeat, and colour placement on sample
- Send us: artwork, tech pack, or a selected design direction

Lever 05
Custom weave / construction
The face of the cloth starts with construction. Pick the weave that fits the end product, then customize colour and weight on top.
- General fabric: plain, twill, and structured woven faces for apparel programmes
- Silk fabric: silk twill, structured satin (Katan), jacquard brocade, crepe, dupion, textured slub
- What we lock: construction and face character on the lab sample
- Send us: preferred weave name or a fabric reference

Lever 06
Custom finish
Finish changes how the same construction feels and looks - softer hand, firmer body, cleaner face. Stated on sample, not as a vague promise.
- General fabric: softener or firmer body for cut-and-sew handling
- Silk fabric: matte vs cleaner lustre, drape vs structure, checked against end product
- What we lock: hand and surface on the approved sample
- Send us: preferred hand notes or a reference swatch

Lever 07
Custom composition
Fibre story affects drape, cost, and care. We confirm what is programme-feasible and lock the composition note with the sample.
- General fabric: cotton, linen, and blend programmes where yarn supply allows
- Silk fabric: pure silk constructions; metallic thread where the face needs it; blend notes when requested
- What we lock: fibre story stated on the sample and quote
- Send us: required composition or performance notes
Silk fabric customization - what matters most
On silk programmes these levers usually decide the brief. Trade English first; Indian mill names only where buyers still quote them.
| Silk focus | Typical lever priority | Sample lock |
|---|---|---|
| Scarf / foulard twill | Colour, GSM, hand, usable width | Shade + drape before colour lots |
| Structured satin (Katan) | Body / GSM, shade, width, finish | Firm hand for jackets and dresses |
| Jacquard brocade | Design / motif scale, colourways, metal tone | Motif + each colourway |
| Crepe / lightweight drape | GSM, opacity, shade, finish | Drape and opacity in market light |
| Slub / dupion faces | Texture character, shade, width | Slub look consistent across the lot |

Fabric customization FAQ
Can we customize more than one lever at once?
Yes. Colour + GSM + width is a common brief. Multi-lever programmes take a clear sample lock for each change before production.
Is silk customization different from general fabric?
The levers are the same names, but silk constructions (especially jacquard and metal-thread faces) need tighter sample locks on motif, shade, and hand. Say Path A or Path B in your RFQ.
Do you publish a fixed MOQ for customization?
No. MOQ depends on construction, colour count, and loom booking. We quote a real minimum after the brief - not a fake one-size number on this page.
What should we send for a customization RFQ?
Path (general or silk), levers to change, end product, target metres, destination, and references (Pantone, swatch, artwork, or fabric sample).
When does bulk start?
Only after written approval of the lab sample for the locked levers. See also the bulk silk desk if you already need metres.
Can we reorder the same customization next season?
Yes when you PO the same locked construction and shade standard. Programme notes from the approved sample guide the reorder, subject to yarn and loom availability.
Ready to customize fabric?
Name the path, the levers, the end product, and the destination. We reply with sampling next steps.
